With colder weather coming, supporters have pushed our winter food appeal past £40,000. Here is what the next £10,000 will put in the bowls of rescued dogs and cats.

Winter is the hardest time of year for shelter animals. Dogs and cats burn more energy just to stay warm, and food prices in Ukraine are still rising. This year supporters have stepped up early: our winter food appeal has now passed £40,000.
That money is already at work. Dry food is bought in bulk from local suppliers, which keeps costs down, and delivered to our partner shelters every two weeks.
About eight tonnes of dry dog and cat food, enough to feed around 400 animals for a month. It will also pay for straw for bedding, heated pads for kittens and older dogs, and fuel for the generators that keep the shelters running during blackouts.
To everyone who has donated, shared the appeal or organised a collection: thank you. Winter is long, but with your help every bowl will stay full until spring.
