The story
This was the first fundraiser for the Friend shelter in Ukraine, launched when the war forced the shelter to care for far more animals than it had ever been built for. Dogs and cats arrived every week from evacuated towns and frontline villages, many of them injured, starving or in shock.
Thanks to an extraordinary response from supporters, the fundraiser came very close to its ambitious target.
What your donations achieved
The money raised paid for months of food, veterinary treatment for injured animals, vaccinations, generators and fuel during the blackouts, and repairs to kennels and enclosures. It also helped the shelter get through some of the hardest winters it has ever faced.
The work continues
