The story
Danik was found lying at the side of a road, too weak to stand. He was thin, covered in sores and clearly in pain. Nobody knows how long he had been there, but the volunteer who stopped for him says he barely lifted his head when she knelt beside him.
He was taken straight to the vet, where examinations showed he needed far more than a meal and a warm bed. Danik needed intensive treatment, a series of follow-up examinations and weeks of careful nursing before he would be strong enough for anything else.
His road to recovery
Since then, Danik has been in the care of Dog and Cat Matters. He is on medication, special food and a strict recovery plan. Little by little he is learning that people’s hands can be gentle. He now wags his tail when his carer arrives, and that is a moment nobody expected to see so soon.
The treatment is long and expensive. Diagnostics, medicine, hospital stays and follow-up visits add up quickly, and the organisation cannot cover it all alone.
