The story
Every spring, the same thing happens in the villages and allotments around the shelters we work with: litters of kittens appear in sheds, under cars and in cardboard boxes left by the roadside. Most of them never reach adulthood. Those that do grow up hungry, unvaccinated and frightened, and within a few months they are having kittens of their own.
Our volunteers rescue as many as they can, but rescue alone can never keep up. One unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce dozens of kittens in just a few years. The only humane way to break that cycle is neutering.
What we are doing
Through this fundraiser we pay partner vets to neuter street and community cats, as well as cats owned by families who simply cannot afford the operation. Cats are trapped gently, neutered, vaccinated, checked for injuries and parasites, and then either returned to their familiar territory, where carers feed them, or put up for adoption if they are tame enough.
Each operation also comes with a basic health check. Many cats arrive with ear mites, infected wounds or bad teeth that would otherwise go untreated.
How your gift helps
A single neutering operation prevents hundreds of future kittens from being born into hunger and cold. It is the least dramatic thing we do, and probably the most effective. Every donation, however small, goes directly to vet bills, medicine and recovery care.
